Presumably, every one of you has at least one talent: i.e. school work, drawing, painting, writing, cooking, sewing, sculpting, HTML, Photoshop, etc. Right? So imagine if you were doing your thing, and some angry and hateful stranger came flying in and backspaced what you were writing, over-salted your dish, smashed your clay, crossed out all of the answers on your homework, dumped paint on your canvas or tore what you were sewing in half? I image you would not sit back and agree that yes, they are right and you were wrong. Of course the way you were making YOUR creation was not the CORRECT way to do it. Let me teach you two words. They are “creative” and ”license.” Together, they make CREATIVE LICENSE. Do you know who has these magical things? JKR, David Yates, Mike Newell, and Chris Columbus. Their jobs are to write books and make movies—VERY important books and movies. A lot of pressure lay on their shoulders to produce quality work, fast. So now, I want you to put yourself in their shoes. Could YOU have directed a Harry Potter film any better than them? I won’t even ask if you could have written the books better, because the answer is no. What the directors took from the films HAD to be taken out. If Momma Rowling left something out, she had a reason for it. Not only did these incredible people have Warner Brothers, the cast, and each other breathing down their necks, but now the fans, the people who are supposed to love the outcome no matter what, are tearing apart their work LIKE THEY COULD HAVE DONE IT BETTER. So, in my opinion, if you haven’t read the books: you’re still a fan. If you haven’t seen the movies: you’re still a fan. If the only thing you can do is sit down and point out the minute flaws of the most incredible story/film series/franchise ever to grace the planet: you are not a fan. If you could have done it better, don’t talk down on it. (And you couldn’t have.)

This fandom can be the ugliest.

I don’t think I’ve read anything more amazing than this.

You know, I never read past book 5. And I only got halfway through that book. But to see every single Harry Potter fan/reader point out every minute flaw or missing character or WHATEVER—it irritates me.

Who cares if they didn’t put Peeves in the movie? I know I don’t. The movies were still brilliant. The directors and the cast put their all into making those movies, and I think they are BRILLIANT. <3

Some people need to get over themselves. The movies are not and will never be perfect visual adaptations of the books. There’s only so much a movie budget can do, and I know I am perfectly fine with the outcome I was given.

And besides, I like to watch stories rather than read them. It’s just more appealing to me. So the movies will always be awesome and number one to me.

When did anyone ever go and rip up Rowling’s manuscripts, though?
Sure, it’s great that she wrote these books—it was a lot of work. She’s a pretty good writer, and for the most part, they’re pretty well-written.

But she’s not the best writer around, and they’re not the best books around. Why shouldn’t people be allowed to discuss the flaws in her writing? They are flaws, and they are there. Is it too offensive to point out when shoddy work is shoddy? Are we just going to go around patting each other on the back saying “it’s okay, you tried, it doesn’t matter that what you produced is really really bad”? Pointing out the weak spots in someone’s work doesn’t constitute an attack on their person, and if we never point out each other’s—and our own—mistakes, we’re never going to get better at anything.

tl;dr: People suck. Always. it’s the same everywhere.

Also if anything was left out, blame Warner Brothers and the MPAA. Because.

Best Buy Adds Hamsters to Super Bowl Promotion

Technology retail giant Best Buy already announced a major mobile phone deal as part of this year’s Super Bowl marketing push.  Today the company further announced that it has added hamsters to its bag of tricks.   Every printer that the company sells during the week following the big game will come with a free technical support hamster.

Analysts are calling the promotion a smart move by the retailer.  ”Hamsters are known for their computer savviness, but they can be pricey.  Including the creatures for free with printer purchases offers a huge benefit for consumers,” said Elliot Kosmann of the industry-watching CDN Groupe.
